Description:
PHRca - With achievement of the PHRca, you demonstrate that you have mastered the laws, regulations and HR management practices unique to California. You do not have to reside in California to earn a PHRca. Take this if you either practice in California or are responsible for human resource management in California. Eligibility requirements are a minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional-level HR position with a Master's degree or higher, or a minimum of 2 years experience in a professional-level HR position with a Bachelor's degree, or a minimum of 4 years experience in a professional-level HR position with a high school diploma.

PIHRA Virtual Classroom Environment
This class will be delivered virtually just as if we were in a classroom. There will be face-to-face interaction using Zoom as our technology platform.
Technical requirements for the class include:
- Headphones
- Webcam. If your laptop/computer doesn’t have a camera, you can purchase one for around $30 from Logitech via Amazon.
- Quiet space without distractions
- Solid internet connection
Instructor
Richard Dawson, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, PHRca, HRPM, sHRBP
Richard Dawson, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, PHRca, HRPM, sHRBP, is a highly tactical strategist with extensive HR management experience. He is a full-fledged generalist with industry acumen spanning employee relations, strategic management, talent acquisition, training and development, organizational effectiveness, talent management and full-cycle human resources. He is also senior certified in Federal and California Employment Laws, as well as, certified in CUE, Labor/Employee Relations. Additionally, Richard is an Adjunct Professor at Claremont Graduate University and HR Instructor at University of La Verne, teaching the SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP classes.
As a board member, he has held various positions including Director of Communication and Director of Certification for CalSHRM, Vice-President of Leadership for PIHRA as well as, National SHRM roles as Diversity & Inclusion Expertise Panel and currently, Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Expertise Panel. Richard believes that his greatest role is paying it forward, by assisting others with their success and he looks forward to working with you.
