Battling Priorities:
Heading Off Individual and Team Disruption

presented by Paul Falcone

The COVID-19 pandemic, masking, social distancing, homeschooling, the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, remote work, return-to-work, the most controversial presidential election battle in our lifetimes and its aftermath, and subsequent social unrest have triggered fears, resentments, and anxieties in many workers. Where does this leave the leaders of your organization as they attempt to manage staff conflict that may, at times, appear to be unreasonable and unwavering? How do you, as an HR leader responsible for strengthening the muscle of your frontline leadership team, find ways to cut through the noise, to harmonize and heal the divisions, and to refocus your managers and employees on the work at hand and on their responsibilities to perform rather than vex their peers who may have different beliefs or philosophies?

Join us for 60 minute webinar with SHRM.org columnist and top-rated presenter Paul Falcone as we address:

  • Proactively addressing and acknowledging workers’ anxieties, making it psychologically safe to make themselves vulnerable in confronting their fears
  • Defining the type of flexibility needed on the company’s part when it comes to remote work and return-to-work considerations, especially in light of closed schools or online-only classrooms
  • Attending to individual bullying behaviors by “alpha” or rogue workers who may be looking for trouble
  • Holding the entire team accountable to the standard of creating a friendly and inclusive working environment
  • Resetting team expectations with a spirit of goodwill and transparency by healing wounds and a pointing to a healthy and safe way forward

Our “new normal” is placing us at the point of pure creation, with no policy, practice, or precedent to guide us. But simply attempting to build greater trust, accountability, and goodwill will go a long way in sheltering your people from the storm and teaching them to become outstanding leaders in their own right.
