2020 Economic Forecast:  What HR Needs to Know


With market volatility all around us, what can we expect in 2020? Economic indicators are widely published in headlines, but what does that mean for our market? We will examine elements of the macro-economy and discuss the impact to California as well as to Orange County. More specifically, we will explore what this means to the HR community.

Participants will learn:

  1.   How Orange County compares to California as well as the national economy
  2.   What to expect in the local labor and housing markets
  3.   Three economic indicators the HR community needs to be aware of in 2020

Mira Farka, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Economics, Co-Director, Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.

Mira Farka, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Economics and Co-Director for the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting at CSUF. She has published in leading academic journals in the fields of monetary policy and financial economics and is a nationally recognized economist in business and economic forecasting. Dr. Farka is the recipient of multiple awards for her academic research, teaching and the accuracy of her forecasts. She is also the recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Faculty for the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics and CSUF Faculty Recognition Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity. Dr. Farka is a sough-after keynote speaker and is frequently invited to discuss economic and financial issues by various business, government, and educational organizations. She is routinely interviewed by various media sources including the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, Orange County Business Journal, OC Metro, Valley News, and California Commerce. Dr. Farka holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University. Prior to joining Cal State Fullerton, she worked in Wall Street, as a senior economist for Deutsche Bank, New York.


Sean Jasso, Ph.D., Practitioner Faculty of Economics at Pepperdine University's Graziadio Business School

Dr. Jasso writes, teaches, and consults in the areas of political economy, public policy, strategic marketing, and business ethics. He has worked several years in the hospitality and healthcare industries. He combines his training in service, leadership, and politics into his own consulting practice. His practice services local and national government agencies as well as various global entrepreneurial organizations. Dr. Jasso delivers seminars, workshops, and speeches on the global economy, Sarbanes-Oxley, and leadership. Whether in teaching, research, and consulting, his objective is to build a transdisciplinary approach. In the approach, The New Corporation, it applies political and management theories to help organizations and individuals reach their potential.

Cancellation Policy

There will be a 50% administration fee for any cancellations. If you need to cancel, we must receive it in writing (email or fax) 2 business days prior to the event during normal business hours. Refunds will not be given to no-shows. Credits will not be issued for use towards future PIHRA events.
