Are You Ready for Open Enrollment?

For many employers, it’s that time of year again: So, do you feel ready for open enrollment? This presentation will walk you through all the essential steps employers must take to prepare for open enrollment, starting with the decision to offer coverage, and then moving on to a discussion of the documents that must be distributed, how to satisfy the applicable foreign language and distribution requirements, and how to ensure you have the right documentation to demonstrate that an offer of coverage was made to all eligible employees. Tips and an action plan will be included.

Speakers

With clients in talent-driven sectors like technology, entertainment, non-profit and financial services, Hunt Turner helps employers thrive even when the labor market is tight. He says a smart benefits strategy is key for employers whose success depends on attracting and retaining talent. “I like to continually have that conversation with my clients in an honest and transparent way, so we can work together to align staffing, growth and budget.” Along with strategy, Hunt keeps his focus on cutting edge tactics that lend efficiency to the traditionally cumbersome process of benefit communications, enrollment and administration.
Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree in financial management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is the President-Elect for Cal Poly SLO’s alumni association, representing 190,000 of his fellow alumni. He has currently serves as the Chair of PIHRA West LA, has previously served as a board member for Pasadena-area Cancer Support Community, and coaches tennis for High Point Academy. He resides in Pasadena with his wife, two daughters, dog Lefty and horse Gump.
Marilyn A. Monahan is the owner of the Monahan Law Office in Marina del Rey, CA. Marilyn focuses her practice on advising employers and consultants on compliance with employee benefit and insurance laws, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and COBRA. Her volunteer activities include serving as Secretary of the Employee Benefit Planning Association of Southern California (EBPA), and as an advisor to the Executive Committee of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the California Lawyers Association (CLA). Marilyn has served on the Board of Directors for the Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) as Vice President of Legislative Affairs (2008-2012), President-Elect (2013-2014), President (2015-2016), and Immediate Past President (2016-2018).
